Zoom does not damage the tooth enamel. Zoom works by removing the stains from inside the pores of the enamel.
The amount of time that Zoom will last depends on the habits of the patient. The more clear or white liquids and foods you eat the longer the Zoom can last. By eating and drinking liquids and foods that stain the less amount of time the Zoom will last. If something will stain your white dress shirt then it will stain your teeth.
Zoom can cause temporary sensitivity. We give the patient fluoride toothpaste to use two weeks prior to Zoom to help alleviate sensitivity. It does not guarantee there will be no sensitivity but it does help. The sensitivity is temporary and only lasts about 24 hours. We recommend ibuprofen should the patient experience sensitivity.
Zoom teeth whitening gel contains hydrogen peroxide. Dentists use a laser light to speed up the whitening process, allowing people to get results after a single treatment. While most people are good candidates for Zoom, it is not recommended for women who are nursing or pregnant.
It's not recommended that you do Zoom whitening treatments more than once a year. Depending on your health and teeth, however, you may be able to have touch-up Zoom treatments every six months.
